• XML / PHP: these technologies have been used for various interfaces with external Order Entry and EDI providers. The System I has an amazing repertoire of other connectivity that lends itself to so many different tie-ins. RF handhelds, weighing scales, third party provider EDI, MS Office, Apple iPad and iPhone are some of what it can do!

• Paperless Item Picking and Put Away: Wireless Handheld Order Entry, Picking, Receiving, Physical Inventory, Moves, Inquiry, Order Fulfillment to A+.

• Foodservice Menu, Recipe, Portion Control, Calendar Management: A total rewrite of a custom package from 1990 is underway. Menu planning, creating recipes based upon number of servings and type of meal, inventory, pull sheet, vendor bids, with a simple user interface into VAI's S2K ERP system.

• Microsoft Web Interface to AS/400 Back End: We have done this with several accounts: The AS/400 handles the processing, the PC Web Server is simply the face and passes credit card processing, confirmation emails, and order processing to the 400.

• Salesman / Sales Manager Web Portal: Written in ABL's Strategi, we created a Web Portal so that managers and sales people could monitor orders and status of each salesman.

• Telemarketing and Tickler Application: Simple tickler system to record contacts

• Time and Attendance: who is here, where are they, when did they check in and out, etc.

• Velocity Code Purchasing: Items are rated based upon sales volume, which in turn drives purchasing requirements- a refinement of "ABCD" coding and safety stock requirements.

• Voice Response Credit Verification: online check approval to support either voice response of FSK units.

• Voice Response Order Placement and Fulfillment: ordering via telephone with voice response, creates pick slips automatically, creates Purchase Orders for drop shipping to vendors, and sends an order acknowledgement, with zero support.

• Warehouse Production Management: monitor picker efficiency and status (order/line/location) real time during RF operations.

• Web Catalog Order: we have worked on several projects using IBM's net.data, ABL's Strategi, and BCD's WebSmart. These projects are stand alone, running on the IBM System i - no virus or BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) worries!

• Wire Rope Sling Configurator: The client wanted to create the sling "on the fly" and only use the components with the ratings that were required for the job. The system did that, created the bill of materials, the work order, accurately priced it and issued a sling number, saving hours every day.

• MBS TextAid Book Store Buy Back: With multiple textbook wholesalers, it was difficult to determine how many books each would take and at what price, so it was very difficult to determine what to pay, based upon which wholesaler would buy the book. Add to that, the ability to know what was in what box for which wholesaler! We were able to load the wholesalers prices into one common file, assess buying limits for each, and at buy back time, the students got the highest prices first and so on, in descending order. We also accumulated the info to determine what box the books went in for what wholesaler, and print the packing list accordingly. This one effort saves 3 weeks twice a year, a total of 6 weeks, a total of approximately 500 man hours.

• Infor A+ / Application Plus: We have extensive experience with this application since it's inception in 1988. We can provide modifications, modules from scratch, updates, interfaces to external applications. Web front ends, bar code support, paperless picking, are all within our profile.

• Paperless Warehouse Operations: Got paper? You better have, because in the beginning, this wholesaler had printed pick list, move reports, receiving reports, and put away sheets- now it’s all paperless with RF units. With the client’s ideas of how this could work, we outlined the details to get it done. Now the warehouse operates like clockwork, guided through the steps by the RF unit. Each picker and fork lift operator is monitored by the warehouse manager (order and line item), all the while gathering statistics on his or her performance toward weekly payroll bonuses. This has reduced staff requirements, allows for establishing picking targets by warehouse zone and at the end of the day, each picker knows how they performed.

• Retail Bakery: Looking for a way to make the order processing via the web and with telephone operators quicker and simpler, we worked with a bakery to do just that. With a clean new web Microsoft based web layout, we provided the backend processing via the AS/400. The order is taken, validates the ship date, charges the credit card and emails the customer an acknowledgement with the UPS tracking number, handled by the AS/400. In addition, the web operation was also re-written to include corporate orders via a provided Excel spreadsheet for up to 999 individual orders by one client, for instance, an attorney firm, for different customers and items. The telephone operators also had their programs re-written to include the ability to take multiple orders under one customer, comprehensive search across several data bases, perform credit check, take change orders, revise shipping method, provide UPS Tracking Number, and statistics. Security is throughout the project to enable levels to have access to certain functions, based upon their hierarchy. With capacity for 10 operators, they used no more than 6 to 8, pushed through orders much quicker, were able to answer customer inquiries easier, and provided a higher level of customer satisfaction than before. They were also able to get instant status counts as the day progressed and go home earlier with less stress!
